A: You must take into consideration a material fit for purpose and safe for eating when designing your cutlery. If submitting prototypes you are free to use any material for the point of illustration

 

Q: “How can I present my design?”

A: You can use any medium. CAD drawings, photographs, models, paper or other

 

Q: “By what date do I have to submit my application?”

A: 20 March 2023

 

Q: “Can I check that you have received my entry?”

A: All applicants will receive email confirmation of entry

 

Q: “When will I hear about my application?”

A: All applicants will be informed whether they are successful by 3 May 2023

 

Q: “Can I enter this competition?”

A: The competition is open to all students currently on, or recently graduated from (3 years or less) any art, design or crafts course, at any college or university, studying at undergraduate, post-graduate or equivalent level. Applicants must be living in the UK for the duration of the competition.

 

Q: “How many students can be involved in the entry?”

A: Your entry should be yours, and yours only. You mustn’t include anything in your entry that you don’t have permission to use. If you get ideas from anywhere else, please credit or link to the source, as you would a piece of academic work.

 

Q: “Who will decide the winner?”

A: The judges will decide on a shortlist from all valid entries received by the closing date after which they will decide the winner & runner-up.

 

Q: “What can I win?”

A: The first prize is £750 and the opportunity to have your design turned into a six piece set of cutlery with a skilled craftsman or manufacturer. Second prize is £250 and your entry showcased in the competition PR as well on the company website.

 

Q: “Does it need to be dishwasher safe?”

A: No.

 

Q: “What is the marking criteria?”

A: There isn’t one. The judges will be looking for an entry that is of its time, and of course it must be fit for purpose.

 

Q: “What size does the cutlery need to be?”

A: Bear in mind that it is the intention for this cutlery to be used so standard sizes would be desirable as well as practical.
